This summer a big part of the collection is made of hand spun and handwoven Khadi cotton. This fabric has a certain porosity which makes it permeable to moisture and wonderfully airy on hot summer days. Khadi cotton is well known as it was already used by Mahatma Gandhi. It is a fabric that is more environmental friendly as it uses less water in the development. The fabric is often woven in the villages. As such it gives the women there income, self respect, and lets them gain more power over themselves and their children. Hellen uses the fabric for a collection of hand printed scarves, and using the same screens as the scarves, she also printed dresses and canvas bags.
